What Was New in 2005 at The Crown Hotel, Framlingham

Tue 6 December	Although it will interfere with her shopping and travel, our own Tracy Clifford has nobly become a town councillor. Don't forget it's the Street Fayre this Friday. 3,000 people packed in to Fram last year and again we shall be Panto City.

Sun 6 November	Now this isn't an endorsement but the Town Council is having their Christmas party with us ... and the councillors have to pay for their own Christmas party. We can still book your Christmas party but it it does fill up quickly.

Mon 31 October	Saturday's Talent Off the Hill demonstrated just how able today's young musicians are. Our apologies to Catherine Cresswell for failing to get a pic and yes, Roy is seriously considering doing it again soon.

Wed 27 September	Not only did waitresses Polly Handy and Catherine Cresswell make a cracking job of preparing the restaurant this weekend for a golden wedding anniversary but worked hard to make it the success it was. Displaying the admirable flexibility typical of Crown staff Catherine will be being very lovely at next month's Talent off the Hill.

Sun 11 September	The rain held off for Talent on the Hill and a large and generous crowd snacked, drank and enjoyed the solos, duos and bands. What else could you ask for?

Sat 10 September	Thirteen outstanding local acts FREE on the Market Hill tonight. We renewed our sponsorship of Framlingham.com yesterday and they said some nice things about us.

Fri 2 September	The Crown was the setting for Anglia TV presenter Natalie Gray to do a piece to camera about Framlingham being in the last fifteen of Country Life's Favourite Market Town. It went out on the six o'clock news tonight. Tracy isn't looking quite so brown now but she liked Turkey so much she's going back this month, and our consultant chef David Harwood now has his own web site.

Tue 16 August	Tracy came back from a holiday in Turkey a little while back looking suitably brown and new face in Reception is Cilla Brooks. Cilla, who previously ran her own kitchen fittings business, had the good humour, common sense and commitment we were looking for and we can only hope she stays with us for the foreseeable future.

Mon 1 August	There was a good crowd last night for what was the monthly jam session but has now become more of a round the room session. Gratifyingly it was all ages. Next session 28th August.

Fri 29 July	You may have noticed a new vivacity in our menus? This is thanks to consultant chef David Harwood who is working with our own chefs to develop new and progressive menus.

Sat 16 July	The Crown has been sponsoring our local community web site Framlingham.com since June, we just forgot to mention it!

Tuesday 12 July	We are looking for a smart and bright person to work front of house with Tess and Tracy and occasional interference from Roy. Initial attendance will be two days a week from around 0930 to 1730 with one of the days being a weekend day every five weeks. Pay is OK and we will offer training to the right applicant, including external courses. The applicant MUST be friendly, outgoing and committed to customer service. Saturday 9 July	Charlie Haydock may be pure solid Suffolk and a waistcoat wearer but last night he was extremely relevant, very funny and rather clever. To paraphrase his Hurricane over Basildon "so 15 year old mother of five Chardonay Mercedes rings for an ambulance: 'Where are you bleeding from?' 'Romford, but what's that got to do with it?'"

Friday 8 July	Arts Framlingham gratifyingly is being a great success. Look at our lobby crowded with guided walkers waiting for the off, it certainly irritated The Gamekeeper as he tried to make his way through ... but then everything irritates The Gamekeeper. Anyway FREE tonight folkies Charlie Haydock and Pluck 'n' Squeeze (a band with a bass player who was an assistant jockstrap darner at the Royal Ballet?!).

Sunday 26 June	We're the Box Office for the Arts Framlingham Summer Festival which started Friday with a sell out Esther Freud. Come along to tonight's FREE jam session and book something.

Wednesday 1 June	As far as we know this is as close as Matt from CBBC got to the Crown but still nice to see him, even though the Suffolk Samba School were the runaway Framlingham Gala crowd pleasers.

Wednesday 25 May	Last Thursday the Crown's Director Roy Hunt featured on Framlingham.com A pointer as to why he's wearing a rudimentary cowboy hat can be found or our links page.

Sunday 15 May	Still a little cold despite the weathermen's promises but that didn't deter this guest from enjoying both his newspaper and the courtyard yesterday.

Thursday 12 May	You may remember there was a mystery pirate wafting about at the Street Fayre? That brave lady, it was her first night at The Crown, is Avril Ford. Not only does she waitress and work in the bar but for a while now she has been Saturday (our busiest day) Front of House, greeting guests and generally making sure everything runs smoothly.

Saturday 16 April	Brad Taylor, who is currently serving in the US Navy, enjoying a pint with two chums in the lounge. Brad was staying in Fram to visit the Parham Airfield Museum and enjoyed himself so much he's coming back and bringing the family.

Tuesday 18 January	Yes, we had to look twice too, but the explanation is "School Days" was the theme for a thirtieth birthday party held in our lounge at the weekend.

Sunday 2 January	Happy New Year and New Year's Eve was an absolute romp!
